Watch Game of Thrones Season 5 without Foxtel or iTunes 2015

Watch Game of Thrones Season 4 without Foxtel 2014

Filmed across 4 countries, over 180 days of shooting and 600 script pages.. Season 5 is finally almost here!

If you enjoyed watching Game of Thrones on a monthly iTunes Pass in 2014, unfortunately you are out of luck in 2015.

The latest season of Game of Thrones Season 5 will only be available exclusively through Foxtel's expensive monthly subscription this year.  This has angered many fans, given how crap Foxtel as a company really is!

At least before you had two options available to watch the new season from day 1 of launch.  Now you only have 1 official route in Australia.  Here are your options available now (from most preferred to least).

Option 1: Buy a VPN package ($5) and watch it from another countries TV Network

This is the easiest way to watch Game of Thrones Season 5.  Given, in total it will cost you $15 AUS dollars per month for HD streaming on-demand and live.  Below is how it all works!

  • Simply purchase access to a VPN (software that allows you to change your IP address to another countries and access geographically blocked content) like BBC iPlayer can be accessed then in Australia for example.
  • Connect to another country within the software you downloaded, so in our case it will be UK – London.
  • Go to NOWTV website (UK based media network), and purchase a monthly subscription, and that's it!

We have a full comprehensive guide on how to do all of the above, just click here.

Option 2: Download a pirated copy from Bit Torrent or HTTP download sites

Given this is illegal to do, we won't go any further into this.  But you know the score!  However, if HBO actually wanted to decrease piracy in Australia, they would ensure they didn't bottleneck consumers into having to pay out so much for watching a single TV show!

Option 3: Cough up and pay the roughly $124 per month charge for watching it on Foxtel

With the basic subscription package and the add-on you need to pay for just to watch HBO original programming, this is the route Foxtel hopes that consumers go down.  It also involves a long-term subscription, which for fans of the show don't want to have to commit to.

Option 4: Wait another 7 months until Game of Thrones Season 5 is released on DVD / Blu-ray / iTunes

After the show has finished transmissions on Foxtel, there will be a significant wait for fans wanting to own it on DVD or Blu-ray.  I make the assumption that after Foxtel's exclusive rights are exhausted, that iTunes will offer the show for sale online.  Although this will again, be at the same release time of physical media.
